Keep progressing to receive big results!

New report timeline

As mentioned earlier in the week, reports have been brought forward to alleviate the end of year rush.

This is also to make sure that they are ready on the system in case any families are leaving Qatar early due to the pandemic, some of which have already informed us they will leave early and require reports for new schools.

Here is the new timeline below. Please click here or on the picture to view it.

The PD Takeaway

This week The PD Takeaway interview was scheduled with Gina in order to learn more about what the role of an intern entails. We discussed Gina's role in the classroom and what she does when she is not providing cover for a class as well.

Thank you to Gina for joining me and for being so open about how she prepares herself for her sessions. To watch this interview then please click here

Mural

Introducing Mural...a visual collaboration whiteboard with tons of features. Teachers can create a free account and even do live calls from the whiteboard. Check out the tutorial here. There is a video that shows the dashboard, you can skip that and see the dashboard slide if you wish.

Social Clubs

The Social Committee would like to announce the introduction of 5 clubs set to start on the week beginning the 16th May.

More information is due to follow shortly but just to make you aware we are anticipating that there will be a quiz club, a golf club, a healthy eating club, an adventure club and finally there will be the return of the Strava Club.

Book Week announcement

Year Three are having their book week next week and it's an exciting time due to what's planned to go ahead on the schedule below. It is sure to be very enjoyable and a great opportunity for students to connect with books.

We'll be sure to update you with pictures from this event next week.

***Recruitment and opportunities update*** - a reminder...

New year 6 teacher!

Miss Angela has been working like a Trojan to fill the vacancies for next year.... and her hard work was rewarded with SUCCESS yesterday as Kevin Muldoon accepted the offer to join year 6 for 2021/22! We are excited to welcome Kevin to the EMS Doha family.

Sharing the load

If you would like the opportunity to joint-lead a year team, this may be for you. We are looking to appoint a current teacher as the co-team leader in year 3, alongside Ms Amy Kate. This system has worked really well in the past and could be a great first step into leadership. If this prospect interests you, speak to a member of the admin team.

***Teaching and learning shout-outs***

Where teachers and students are in perfect harmony...

We start in KG2 Falcons where Ms Renai is teaching about the needs and parts of a plant. It's great to use the elements around you to engage the children in their learning. Click here to watch the video.

In 2-1 the children have been practicing data handling on Nearpod and they are somewhat professionals at this stage now! Well done to Ms Noura and her class of IT specialists.

And now a reminder of some of the brilliant work highlighted earlier in the week.

Ramadan Art in year 1 and year 5

Year 1 students have been making brilliant Ramadan-inspired hanging mobiles in Miss Lara's lessons. Ramadan Kareem everybody!

In year 5, students have been preparing for producing their own Islamic art for Ramadan by researching artwork and producing slideshows of their findings.
