Thursday 20th

Thank you all for the 3WC efforts last night and today. We recognize it is always a busy time of the year but parents were all appreciative of the time they had with you and their children. Thank you to all LAs that helped with de-cluttering the store rooms, supervising staff children and joining in today's PD. Thank you for your efforts. Not long to go and then an extra early release. 12.45pm is leave time today.

Thank you

Thank you to the KG1, KG2, Year 1, interns and Ms Sheila who came together for a Freeflow PD. As always, it was fun, loud and entertaining. Looking foward to seeing where Freeflow can go!

Big thank you to the teachers and LAs for our 3WC event last night and today. Lots of happy students and parents. Enjoy your weekend, you deserve it.

TECHY Thursdays

Leverage Thinglink for United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) for Universal Children's Day

Thinglink allows you to turn any image—like a world map or a photo—into an interactive experience by adding hotspots that link to videos, text, and other web resources.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Find or Create Your Base Image:

    • Find a high-resolution world map image or a picture representing children from different cultures

    • Go to Thinglink and click Create to upload your image or create one using AI from within Thinglink

  2. Establish Core Rights Hotspots:

    • Click the "Add tag" button on your map.

    • For the first few tags, focus on core rights from the UNCRC (e.g., Right to Education, Right to Play, Right to Protection).

    • Use the "Text and media" tag type. For the content, paste the UNCRC Article text and embed a short YouTube video (search for "UNICEF Right to Education video") or a link to a relevant page.

  3. Create Regional Case Study Tags:

    • Have students research a specific country or region and how one of the child rights is being upheld or challenged there.

    • Students use the "Text and media" tag to place an icon over that region on the map.

    • The tag content should include:

      • Title: The country/region and the specific right (e.g., "Kenya: Right to Clean Water").

      • Body: A short, student-written summary of their findings.

      • Link/Embed: A link to a news article, an NGO's report, or a photo collage (created in Canva) illustrating the case study.

  4. Share and Reflect:

    • Click "Share" and provide the link to your class, or embed the final Thinglink map directly into your Google Classroom or LMS.

    • Even better share these instructions with your students and let them create their own
