Sept. 30th
- How do you define student engagement?
- What engages students?
- Can you think of a lesson or activity when the class has been engaged? How about one where there was less engagement? What was the defining difference between the two?
- How do you know when your students are engaged?
- Does engagement look different in math, English, science, etc.?
- Do I think about the engagement factor when planning? Do you ask yourself, "Is this something I would want to do? Will the students view this as meaningful?"
Anan will be working across all 3 campuses to meet these guidelines by Sunday morning. Therefore, his team will provide the extra furniture which was previously removed from classrooms today, tomorrow, and Saturday. The furniture will be placed in corridors for each year group and you will need to rearrange your classrooms yourself. Please work safely and at a time that is appropriate for you. This may be after school today, or at the weekend but your classroom must be ready at 6.45am on Sunday. Many thanks to those teachers who have already thought about their classroom spaces in light of the new directive.
Please keep in mind, Anan and his team are working as fast as possible to support us. Please don’t panic if you don’t see furniture outside your class immediately as I’m sure you can understand this is a colossal task.
The following guidelines will be put in place;
Timetable- will stay the same there will be NO changes to the current timetable.
We will maintain safety bubbles for each class.
We will continue with NO outside breaktimes (we will review this after 1 week and schedule outdoor play breaks over the coming week) and NO cafeteria.
Gates for entry and exit will remain the same, which includes gate duty and WhatsApp for dismissal.
PE will be outside in class bubbles.
Other specialists will continue to push in. AIM will work with groups in classes but not across the year group.
Live calls and blended learning
Live calls- cameras will be on from registration. There is NO expectation for you to run any 'Meeters & Seaters' style lessons from Sunday.
The link is only for students at home who are there because of quarantine/travel or medical exemptions. Work can be posted to those students using online platforms. However, there is no expectation for there to be any online lessons. Your focus is now on your students in the classroom.
NEASC visiting schedule
The schedule will be amended so there will be NO observations on Sunday. Instead, observations will be moved to Wednesday. If you are chosen to be observed on Wednesday you will be notified as soon as we can look at the schedule.
On the guidelines, you will have seen that there are some restrictions we are unable to adhere to such as maintaining 1-meter distancing. Instead, we will observe safety bubbles, masks, and sanitation in our classrooms. Specialists will push in, PE will pull out.
If you have any further questions please ask a member of the Primary Leadership team, who will be happy to help and support you.
Stay calm, patient, and work together.
