As we are well on our way for NEASC re-accreditation, this is a perfect time for reflection on our practices. Learning Principle #5 Learner Engagement and Autonomy Take a look at this article from Edutopia "6 Strategies for Promoting Student Autonomy".

Some questions for reflection: 
  • Do I help students to develop a sense of ownership in the learning process?
  • Do I provide students with choices about how they may demonstrate mastery of a concept; how they approach specific assignments; opportunities to work independently or with peers; and how they achieve at their competency levels?
  • Do you model the skills involved in making well-informed and positive choices?
  • Do I encourage students to assess their own learning progress?








Pop Awards are back up and running. Please send us any pictures you get of your students with their certificates at home. 






Tuesday, Sept. 21st is a day that will live in infamy for EMS Doha. We have submitted our application to become the 1st Google Reference School in the Middle East, see the map below (the orange dot denotes a Google Reference School or District). 









World Teachers Day is Tuesday, Oct. 5th. To celebrate you, our awesome teachers, we will ask the students to dress up as their favorite teacher/admin staff. We will ask Group B to come dressed on Tues. Oct. 5th & Group A to come on Tues. Oct. 12th. Please let your students know.



Gaia 20:30 - Biodiversity Campaign
Lesson Plan Competition for teachers

Teachers are invited to submit lesson plans within a biodiversity project with a focus on:
- Preserving existing and creating new forests or natural areas, e.g. school gardens, parks, green neighborhoods, etc.;
- Promoting sustainable management of the coastal zone;
- Combatting pollinator and insect loss;
- Raising awareness of and supporting actions to remove invasive alien species.

Awards:
1st prize: 300 Euros and a global certificate
2nd prize: 200 Euros and a global certificate
3rd prize: 100 Euros and a global certificate
