Sunday Face-to-Face Meeting - 11 January

We will meet in the small cafeteria @ 6.30 am on Sunday.

Dismissal Protocols

Please ensure you are familiar with the correct dismissal protocols. If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the Admin team. It is important that we are all following the same procedures consistently.

Dismissal procedures for KG to Year 3

If anyone unfamiliar to you comes to the classroom door to collect a student, they must be directed to Reception so a verification call can be made home. This applies to all adults, including drivers and nannies.

If a student is released to an adult who has not been verified by the parent first, the Ministry will hold the school liable.

Block secretaries will request QIDs for any person authorised to collect a student. A phone call home must also be made to double-check approval.

We understand that hallways and doorways can be extremely busy at dismissal time, vigilance is essential. Even if Reception is busy, the verification calls must be made.

Techy Tips

Breaking the Sound Barrier with Live Audio Translation

Imagine hosting a guest from Brazil via Google Meet. While she speaks in Portuguese, your students hear
her in English through their speakers. Meanwhile, she can hear their English questions translated back
into Portuguese. This creates a natural, free-flowing dialogue without the "stop-and-start" of a human
translator. Well, this feature is now available in Google Meet!

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Start the Meeting: Open your Google Meet and click the three dots (More options) in the bottom
control bar.
- Access Settings: Navigate to Settings > Captions.
- Enable Speech Translation: * Toggle on Translated captions (to see the text).
- Look for the Speech Translation (Beta) section and toggle it ON.
- Set the Languages: * Select the "Language being spoken" (e.g., English).
- Select your "Preferred audio language" (e.g., Spanish).
- Adjust Volume: You will now hear the translated audio. You can usually adjust the balance to hear
a "faint echo" of the original speaker or just the translated voice.

This feature is only available to a Google Workspace account with a Gemini Education. Although
We do not have the Gemini Education feature available at our school. The good thing is that if anyone in the meeting has it, it will be available to everyone.
