Tuesday 6th

Thank you all for a great week so far. We have started with our Leadership shadows who had an insight to 'a day in the life.' Congratulations to Mr Wael and the MAT department for a fantastic EMS Talent show on Sunday.

Back to basics

Bellwork and morning activities should avoid worksheets or simple, solo practice activities. Instead, aim for activities that encourage collaboration. It can be curricular linked, even mathematics, like in the example below, or not linked to the curriculum at all.

PD request

If you would be willing to contribute a short (15 - 30 second) video of yourself for our NEASC MLP PD on 15th May, please let Mr Lewis know today. This would involve you defining, or suggesting, attributes of an ideal EMS learner, and would be filmed by Miss Yasmeen sometime this week, at your convenience. It would be very much appreciated.

Thursday 1st LA PD

Last Thursday Ms Rola and Ms Veron lead a PD for all the LAs. Thank you to all that attended. It was a great PD and very beneficial. Please see the slides attached. It would be great to sit with the LAs and discuss how you could embed their learning into your classroom. Thank you Ms Rola and Ms Veron.

Birthday celebrations

We have seen an increased number of gift bags coming into year levels for birthdays. A reminder, we can only allow either cupcakes, doughnuts or precut cakes. Anything else will be sent home with the students. Please remind students for any upcoming birthdays and next year celebrations. Please make sure you send the permission slips home before the celebration to help at the gates and in reception.

Mental health day message from Ms Asiya

We’re excited to share that we will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday, 15th May with a special focus on kindness, inclusion, and emotional well-being.

As part of the celebration, we will have a "Wear It Green Day", and we encourage all staff and students to come dressed in green to show support for mental health awareness.

Each class will take part in an indoor activity on the day, considering the hot weather. To begin the day meaningfully, we ask that during the first half hour of the first lesson in the morning, each class completes a kindness poster activity. Here’s how it will work:

  • Every learner will write a kindness note—this could be a kind message to someone in the class, a reflection on what kindness means, or an appreciation note.

  • The notes will then be compiled into a poster and displayed outside your classroom on the boards.

  • Please feel free to get creative with how your class designs their poster!

This will be a wonderful way to set a positive tone for the day and visually showcase the spirit of kindness across our school.

I will be sending out an email informing the parents about the event . Please feel free to use the poster and the link to the official website attached below if needed. I'll have a few posters displayed around our buildings as well.

Thank you all for your continued support and commitment to our learners’ well-being. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any resources for the activity.
