Tuesday 13th
Water day in Lower Primary started today. Our KG1s were lucky enough to tie Water day in with their current phonics learning. Our KG1s were able to link their learning in with a fun and exciting morning, they didn't even realize they were learning. If it's the unit hook or the unit wrap up, we can support to tailor the activities to help students engage and love their learning. Thank you KG1 for a great morning. KG2 and Year 1, enjoy your Water Day this week.
Back to Basics- Read to your class
Students are asking us when we are coming back to read to them, it's great to see how much they enjoyed being read to during Book Week.
We know reading to children has so many benefits for development, as the weather is heating up allow for time to read to your class, this can help with behavior and also allows for students to have a brain break. As we potentially move back to both break indoors it may be crucial to re look at the class timetable and plan for brain breaks like being read to.
Hallway displays
We are loving seeing all the displays in the hallways across all buildings. The students are stopping to discuss learning and proudly showing their families at the end of the day. A massive thank you to you and year level LAS. The hallways look fantastic.
Mental health day message from Ms Asiya
We’re excited to share that we will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday, 15th May with a special focus on kindness, inclusion, and emotional well-being.
As part of the celebration, we will have a "Wear It Green Day", and we encourage all staff and students to come dressed in green to show support for mental health awareness.
Each class will take part in an indoor activity on the day, considering the hot weather. To begin the day meaningfully, we ask that during the first half hour of the first lesson in the morning, each class completes a kindness poster activity. Here’s how it will work:
Every learner will write a kindness note—this could be a kind message to someone in the class, a reflection on what kindness means, or an appreciation note.
The notes will then be compiled into a poster and displayed outside your classroom on the boards.
Please feel free to get creative with how your class designs their poster!
This will be a wonderful way to set a positive tone for the day and visually showcase the spirit of kindness across our school.
I will be sending out an email informing the parents about the event . Please feel free to use the poster and the link to the official website attached below if needed. I'll have a few posters displayed around our buildings as well.
Thank you all for your continued support and commitment to our learners’ well-being. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any resources for the activity.
Early leave/late arrivals
Please make sure you have informed Salma or Nicole if you will be late or need to leave early. In the case that you are late or need to leave, the absent form needs to be completed as 'early leave' 'late arrival' for HR purposes.
Birthday celebrations
We have seen an increased number of gift bags coming into year levels for birthdays. A reminder, we can only allow either cupcakes, doughnuts or precut cakes. Anything else will be sent home with the students. Please remind students for any upcoming birthdays and next year celebrations. Please make sure you send the permission slips home before the celebration to help at the gates and in reception.
