Cover

This term, below is how we should report any absence and set cover work for your class. It's basically the same as term 1, except you report to Lewis, not Renee.

  • If you are going to be unable to make it to work, contact Lewis by email or WhatsApp (6619 6236) by 6.00 am at the latest, please

  • Use the cover template to set work for the class. Here is an example, showing a reasonable level of detail. It doesn't need to be a detailed lesson plan, but enough so that a cover teacher can get on without asking too many questions

We have very good interns, who we use as the first "go-to" for any cover. Sometimes, during periods of high absence, we need to use LAs. On very rare occasions, when there is no other option, we may use year group colleagues to cover during their non-contact sessions. This only happened on one day, in one year group in the whole of term 1, but sometimes it is unavoidable. If this does need to happen, I will always try to "repay the favour" soon afterwards, with a year group intern offer on a quieter cover day.

    Flippity

Flippity is a useful tool for taking Google Sheets (opens in new tab) and turning it into helpful resources, from flashcards to quizzes and more.

Flippity works, at its most basic, by using a selection of Google Sheets that allow teachers and students to create activities. Since these templates are ready to use, all one requires is personalization to the task, and it's ready to go.
