Break Duty

Please be sure to check out the new Break Duty Rota as there have been changes.

❓❓What does a teacher do during their break duty?

  • Active duty- move around their zone (a pleasant stroll around..sliver lining for those counting, more steps for the day)
  • Wear their high visibility vest so students know where to go if an issue arises.
  • Make sure you are adequately protected from the sun and heat (using hats, sunscreen, and drinking plenty of water)

Please remember hi-vis vests for all duties

If you do not have a vest, please collect one from the box near Mr Lewis' office

Flag raising

Our y1 and y2 students did a great job leading our first Lower Primary flag raising of the year. Thank you to Miss Amani for arranging this at short notice.

Teachers teaching teachers

1. Sharing great practise

We are currently encouraging visits to our colleagues' classes to share excellent practise - there's nothing quite as powerful as learning from each other! This will depend on occasional cover and practicalities like that, all things that are easy to sort out. Initially, we will prioritise teachers who are new or "new-ish" to EMS, but we are certainly not restricting things to that demographic!

Ask your Team Leader or associated admin if you are interested, and give an idea as to what you are interested in seeing.

If you have recently observed a colleague, record the process on your BlueSky simply like this.

2.  Encouraging autonomy (LP5), independence and resilience

Miss Aliona's "1-2-3, then me" is a clever system she uses to encourage students to work independently and increase their autonomy:

There is also a feedback process by which the students can indicate to the teacher how their group is coping:

Great, simple and practical! Please do share any tips such as these for future blogs.
