The times that challenge us, teach us (Lewis)

Here's a little idea... try putting the above famous quote by Franklin W Roosevelt into your own words... like I have (badly!) underneath it. Put your effort with your name onto the doc here... winner announced in Tuesday's blog (with a daft little prize to go with it!)

Happy International week!

Have a great week! We are looking forward to seeing anything and everything that comes out of the celebrations.

Please add any photos, videos and screenshots as they happen. We will use them to stitch together the assembly. By end of Tuesday if possible! Use the folder below and many thanks.

Tickets are on sale, and the build-up will gather pace from now on!

We are going to be putting together a little working group to chat about how we can get the most out of this milestone, once-in-a-lifetime event for our primary pupils.

We have started to have a little look at official school resources here, and some of them are really good! We also want our own, innovative input specific to EMS.

If you would be interested in joining an informal working party, let Lewis or Jonny know. It's great to be involved!

Coffee Morning Wed. Jan. 26th

Next week we will have a Coffee Morning to address 4 major questions about learning in the continuing pandemic.

  • Why is my child's timing reduced?
  • Why doesn't my child the teacher for every minute of every lesson?
  • How do we access resources and books for supporting online learning?
  • How can I help my child "catch up" after sickness or travel?

Online/F2F Learning Resources

What is an Explore Board?

The purpose of an Explore Board Is to create a board of learning choices that help students develop background knowledge that fuels comprehension. It is meant to be a before activity. It is filled with links to a set of different forms of media surrounding a common topic, theme, or issue.

Click below for:

Explore Board’s are designed with this in mind:

  • Curated and packaged high-interest content for students
  • Helps to build and foster curiosity before a unit
  • Builds background knowledge to deepen comprehension
  • Extends lessons with more resources - that students can go back and look at as the reading unfolds.
  • Prepares students for class lessons

How is an Explore Board different from a Choice Board? Simple.

A choice board is used to give students choice in how they respond to a prompt or project. It is used for giving students a choice in how they show learning. It's an "outro" activity.

An Explore board, on the other hand. is an "intro" activity - meant to help get students the background knowledge they need that will help them understand concepts and ideas better. It can also be used as a resource as they progress in the learning unit.
