Teaching face to face has a scheduled return!

The news that children are scheduled to be back in school again is somewhat old now but isn't it great that we get to finish the school year as we should, with our students in class. It may not be at 100% but it is the best scenario we could wish for at this time. 

We hope that all of the students will be able to attend school after the summer break and hopefully then a sense of normality will return. I'm sure we all agree a school without students is an emptier place both literally and metaphorically.

We welcome back our students on the 30th May, we can't wait for their return.

Congratulations to Rami Gerges, our EMS Doha campus Head of Physical Education.  He has been appointed as the Head of Physical Education across the four (4) English Modern School campuses - EMS Doha, EMS Al Wakra, EMSKindergarten Al Wakra and EMS AL Khor.

Well done Rami and good luck with the new appointment.

Google Survey - Important please help!

Masters completion

A huge congratulations goes out to a number of our staff that have now completed their SUNY Buffalo Master of Science course. After years of hard work and graft these individuals below have managed to successfully gain a Masters degree. Those people are as follows;

Salma, Nataliya, Ana M, Frank, Diego, Mayuri, Amani and Fatima.

The Big EMS Animal Food Drive

With the summer holidays fast approaching there has been a drive put together to support animals in Qatar over the hot summer months. A number of the shelters around the country are over run and very much in needed of food to continue to feed the animals in their care.

If you can donate food for animals over the summer then please do bring it to the Year 3 hub where Amy Kate will be collecting it on behalf of 2nd Chance Rescue. She will be collecting between now and the week beginning the 13th June when she will be delivering the food gathered to the shelter.

Yearbook

Keep working on the yearbook. I know content can be challenging with online and blended learning. Memes, videos, TikToks, projects, Pop Awards etc. can all be added for each group.

Google Workspace for Education

Calling all Superstars....if you have completed Google Certified Educator Level 2 and would like to work towards becoming a Google Trainer, contact Renee. 

A quick overview of the process: 

1. Take the Trainer assessment (20 multiple-choice questions). 

2. Submit Application (Level 1 & 2 certificates, trainer assessment certificate, application; 

3-minute video {1 minute about yourself and 2 minutes explaining how to do something with Google}. 

Renee will provide resources and training throughout the whole process. Something to think about, you will be required to conduct 12 training sessions per year and show evidence to maintain Trainer Status.

Educators Day of running

A company called TeacherFit is running their 2nd Annual Educator's Day of Running. TeacherFit partners with school districts, schools, and individual educators to provide PROACTIVE wellness and fitness solutions to give educators the ability to take care of themselves during the school year.

They offer lots of free workouts on their site (click here) and if you are a runner then be sure to sign up to their virtual run on the 12th June (click here).
