Recognition can go a long way

It's always great to be recognised for your efforts in life. We all work very hard to achieve our daily goals. Be sure to recognise those around you by praising them for their dedication. It feels great to hand out a compliment and they are just as wonderful to receive.

Report timeline

Wellness

Ms Kamilah would like to share the current edition of the Wellness Workdays Newsletter. Please do have a read of it if you get a chance. She also shared a piece based on hypertension from Healthline and Nurse Mary shared some information about blood pressure to accompany it. These could be useful to help you lower your blood pressure if you are interested.

Year Book

Please keep up the hard work on the yearbook. I know content can be challenging with online and blended learning. Memes, videos, TikToks, projects, Pop Awards etc. can all be added for each group. Due Date: June 6th

Transition spreadsheets - deadline this week ASAP

Please finish filling in the transition spreadsheets. The original deadline was today, so we really do need those as soon as you can. They are used for composing class lists for the next academic year, so the "notes" section is particularly important. Note - PMs not due until 27th.

Social Clubs

The Social Committee is delighted to share with you the sign up sheet for the 5 clubs starting the week beginning 16th May. These clubs will continue to run for a 5 week period until the week beginning 13th June.

The clubs you have the choice of choosing between are as follows; Quiz Club, Golf Club, Healthy Eating Club, Adventure Club and finally Strava Club.

For more information on the clubs please see this presentation

To sign up, please place your name on this sign-up sheet and you will be contacted shortly. You will have until Thursday 13th May to do so.

We hope to see you there.

Can you help?

Miss Genevive, class 1-6 TA: her mother is currently receiving emergency heart surgery in the Philippines and due to the Covid pandemic there at the moment she has had to resort to Private health care costing 1500 riyal a night.

If anyone would like to send some relief money to her please drop it off to Miss Ghadir in block E or Miss Catherine in 1-6 classroom this week ❤

I know we all wouldn't like to be in this position being so far away from home so every little will be greatly appreciated.

***Recruitment and opportunities update***

Year 6 team now complete

We are delighted to announce that year 6 recruitment is now complete with the appointment of Aobheaan (Aveen) Jones. Year 6 will be welcoming 4 new members into the team next year and we are confident, after this process, in our belief that they will gel into a super team.

Thank you also to Ms Salma for managing this change so fantastically.

New primary intern

As mentioned earlier in the week, many congratulations to Kris, currently a secondary AIM support teacher, who will be our new primary intern for 2021/22. Thank you to all those who applied, it was a very tough decision who to appoint.

***Teaching and learning shout-outs***

Where teachers and students are in perfect harmony...

Everyone, please feel free to send any teaching and learning that you wish to share on the blog to Lewis and I (Jonny) and we will be sure to highlight your practise.

Sharing your favourite book

There have also been children sharing their favoruite books in year 3 as well. Here are two pictures from Ms Kathryn's class demonstrating 3.1's great presenting skills.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books has commenced in Year 4 this week. The competition will run until Thursday where only one team from Year 4 will emerge as the winner. Good luck to all the readers!

Can you draw a Jellyfish?

Miss Katty shared an incredible video with KG2 Eagles this week. Not only was it wonderfully innovative but it was also super informative and linked to their learning about the letter J.

Please see the video by clicking this link or the clicking the picture.

Llama Llama needs some Red Pajamas

When Llama Llama was missing her Red Pajamas for her upcoming reading scene with Ms Renee, Ms Rizzi was able to save the day by creating some Red Pajamas quick as a flash.

Thank you Ms Rizzi!

From earlier in the week...

PD achievement!

Miss Saja S had some great news recently - she has been studying for a Speech and Language Therapy qualification for the last 10 months, and last week she discovered that she had passed the course, scoring a massive 84% in the final exam! Huge congratulations to her.

5-3 perfect attenders!

Some of us take a little time to "warm-up" on a Sunday morning.... not class 5-3! All present and correct for their lesson on persuasive writing with Mr Abraham at 8.45 am! Well done to those students and their teacher, especially as this is standard procedure for the class - Mr Abraham reports that 5-3 are excellent attenders.

If you are concerned about any of your students' attendance, complete the form here for your block secretary to follow up.

5-7 Fractions, decimals and percentages

Traditionally one of the most difficult areas for students in maths, 5-7 group B students made FDP look like child's play this morning! Student engagement was excellent. Well done to Miss Aliona and 5-7!

Congratulations! (I couldn't help but post this again)

All our congratulations go to Melissa and her husband DJ for the birth of their beautiful baby daughter, Nina. She was delivered safely on Thursday and here are the first pics - looking pretty in pink!
