A message about Wellness Week

With regards to Wellness Week, this initiative has several different benefits:

  • It allows the PE and Art teams to connect further with the students
  • It gives the students valuable curriculum time to learn about how to keep themselves in great shape, mentally and physically
  • It provides teachers with time to do PM reading assessments and other assessments etc.....
In other words, EVERYBODY WINS! One note - please do not use the time to give students extra work - other than assessments, the covering specialist will provide all of the work for the students to enjoy.

1-6 super story writers!

This week 1.6 our Book focused on David Walliams's, "The Slightly Annoying Elephant"

In the story, Sam adopts an elephant, and the kids in 1.6 wanted to do the same!  We practiced 'how to write a letter by writing to a Zoo Manager to adopt one of their animals. They first had to conduct research on their animal and then write their letter explaining how they would look after it! Project learning in 1.6 is working!

Y3 having fun dressing up…

The PD Takeaway

This week’s PD Takeaway has taken us to KG1 and more specifically to Ms Janine. As KG1 is our youngest year group and with the new school year not too far away it felt like a good time to discuss ways to settle new students into their class environments. Of course, at this time that could include a new online environment as well.

Thank you Ms Janine for your time, it was excellent to catch up on such an interesting topic. To view the interview please click this link here. Enjoy!

The PD Takeaway has been primarily set up to highlight great practise and to give an insight into different roles and teaching across the school. We hope these videos may inspire people to replicate these practises or to possibly go beyond and explore new successful strategies of their own.

If you wish to see any other interviews from the past, for example Gina’s intern interview from last week, then please click here.
