Let's rely on each other as we navigate this very busy month.
Mariia's PD
Mariia's PD went well, and she has shared some wonderful resources. Please speak to her if you have questions.
Cover
Cover is tight as we are ending a very busy term. At times, we will ask for LA and Team assistance to help cover classes. We appreciate your help and support.
Reports
- The next steps for this term's reports could be ideas of areas students can work on over the summer.
- Please stick to the deadlines; if you can't meet them, communicate this to your buddy and administrator in advance.
Some tips on report writing:
- Begin drafting your comments well in advance to avoid last-minute stress. This gives you time to carefully consider each student's progress and achievements throughout the year.
- Provide concrete examples of the student's strengths and areas for improvement. Use specific incidents or assignments to illustrate your points, making your comments more credible and actionable.
- Highlight each student's growth and progress over the year. Acknowledge improvements, no matter how small, to reinforce positive behaviour and encourage continued effort.
- Frame feedback positively and constructively. Even when addressing areas for improvement, use encouraging and supportive language. This helps maintain students' confidence and motivation.
- Provide honest and fair assessments of each student's performance. Avoid exaggeration or overly negative comments. Instead, offer balanced feedback that accurately reflects their achievements and challenges.
- Tailor your comments to each student's individual needs and circumstances. Recognize their strengths, interests, and learning styles and offer personalized recommendations for further development.
- Maintain a professional tone and demeanour in your comments. Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and avoid overly casual language. Remember that your comments are a formal communication with students and their families.
- Offer specific suggestions for how students can improve in areas where they are struggling. Break down larger goals into manageable steps and provide resources or support where necessary.
- Conclude your comments with words of encouragement and support. Reiterate your confidence in the student's abilities and express your belief in their potential for success.
