Going Gold!

A going gold celebration!

The time has nearly come, a large majority of primary staff have now had their second vaccine and are waiting to go GOLD. In fact, a number of people (see below) already have. The moment that you see your gold icon can be quite liberating and emotional. To highlight this wonderful feeling, once everyone has gone gold, we will deliver a small surprise to your class to celebrate.

Enjoy going gold.

The PD Takeaway

Welcome to this week's edition of the PD Takeaway. Imeet is our special guest and in our interview she discusses all things counselling.

The PD Takeaway has been created in order to highlight great practice with the aim for people to be able to replicate this practice in their classroom if they so wish. One of the main features of this interview was the use of the book, 'Pre-referral intervention manual'. This is Imeet's go to guide so if you are looking for classroom strategies for counselling then perhaps grab a copy for yourself.

Here is where you will find the interview and in that same folder you will find a resource folder of which Imeet will be adding to in the future.

M-Fluencers maths quest

M-Fluencers is a maths quest competition for schools in the Middle-east and Africa. EMS Doha came 9th overall in the competition and 6-7 were the top class in the whole school!

It was a stiff competition between Ms Sara and Ms Ivy's class but in the end, Ms Ivy's class took the crown.

How it works is that the students carry out activities on mangahigh and if they get a bronze medal for an activity, they get 1 point.  A silver, 2 points and a gold is 3 points.

Great job to Ms Ivy, her class and all the other competitors from our school. Well done!

1.1's new class

Safety measures at EMS are always a top priority and with this in mind it has been decided to move Ms Ana and her class to a new double base area. As space is limited, the art team was called upon to move from their regular position to accommodate this change.

Thank you to the art team for being so flexible with their learning environment. Also, thank you to Ms Ana and Ms Tess for getting their classroom ready so quickly. It's looking wonderful!

1.6 online learning

Ms Catherine has been working hard this week with her quarantined class. Here she is below teaching a phonics lesson in style. More specifically, she is here teaching phasing 5 sounds for words like 'ouch' and 'loud'.

Keep up the hard work 1.6!

2.1 Place Value

Ms Noura has found herself on the other side of the screen this week, her class are in but unfortunately she has not been able to do the same. Well done Ms Noura for working so well with your class regardless of this and great job in facilitating such a great place value work below.

4.4 Oil spill experiment

Here in Ms May's class the students have had an exciting week. They got to carry out an oil spill experiment in science which was to highlight how damaging oil spills can be to the ocean environment.
