Congratulations to Sam for winning this week's quote challenge! She won with her interpretation of the above quote;

'Sleep is the glue that holds my glitter together'

Commended entries were from Eimer who created, 'If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit' and to Emma who came up with, 'Some things are just better not spread too thin...yourself and peanut butter!'

Thank you to everyone who got involved! To review the quotes feel free to have a look here

Ramadan Presentation

Thank you to Ahmed Moustafa for carrying out the presentation.

If you missed it, please find a recording of it here.

Just for clarification, once Ramadan begins you are able to bring your own food to school and you can also order food to school. However, you must ensure that your food does not come into contact with anyone who is fasting. With this in mind, it will be necessary to collect your own food from the gate if you choose to order.

Outdoor play

As the weather is getting hotter, it is important for us to acknowledge that in the not too distant future it will be necessary to monitor if the weather is too hot for children to go outside.

The nurses will use AccuWeather to determine if the temperature reaches 33 degrees or higher and if it does then they will contact the principals to make a decision as to whether outdoor play will go ahead. If outdoor play is cancelled then you will be notified of this in advance.

Teachers on duty are asked to carefully observe the students for signs of heat illness and to support those students who may need to take a break from playing outside.

Students are advised to take water bottles outside and they can ask the secretaries for water if they require. Of course, during Ramadan, this may not be possible for those fasting so please be extra vigilant with those pupils.

Ramadan Break Duty Rota

With Ramadan around the corner, please find the new Break Duty Rota here that matches the school timings during this period.

Student football games and STAFF vs STUDENTS!

EMS Doha has been welcoming EMS Al Khor and EMS Al Wakra students for football friendly tournaments this week and they have been a joy to behold. You may have caught a glimpse or two of the games when they have been taking place.

Today there have been games involving year 7, 8 and 9 boys and girls, tomorrow the year 5 and 6 boys will be playing and on Thursday there will be games starting around 12:30pm and ending around 3pm.

On Thursday it will be time for the annual Teachers Vs Seniors football match, we haven't had one for the last 2 years. Students are very much looking forward to it and they are already "teasing us" of losing. The match is set to take place at 9:45 and will go 15 minutes into the lesson after the break until about 10:18.

If you would like to get involved then please send a message to Rami. Everyone's involvement is welcome and we will do our best to cover you if you require. Further information will follow this week.

Please feel free to come and support if you have the opportunity.

CEM Assessments

Well done and congratulations to those classes that have finished CEM assessments. Please message Nicole if you need any support during the assessment.

When you need a status report on your class please let her know and she can email it to you. A reminder that all students need to have completed the assessment. The deadline is March 7th.

Flag Raising

Flag raising took place for lower primary today. Children gathered on stage to celebrate the event and others read a piece for their peers to listen to.

Here are some pictures of the event below.

National Identity Implementation

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will be visiting us on Tuesday 12th April, Wednesday 13th April and Thursday 14th April to conduct an accreditation visit.

In a relatively uneconomically entitled process - vis. Evaluation of the Quality of Qatar National Identity Implementation in Internationally Accredited Schools in Qatar - three representatives will be visiting campus and speaking with students, teachers, and parents, accessing our teaching and learning materials, and observing our teaching and learning. The visit will not be restricted to Arabic, Islamic, and Arabic History classes. All classes will be potentially observed. Details of the visit and its format are not yet available, but it will, at this stage, be a face-to-face visit.

The visit is an important part of our accreditation process, but it is also a key indicator that the pall of COVID is receding and we are moving towards our post-COVID future.

Here you have my available schedule for next week. Please book your team in one of the slots. If none of the times is suitable, just let me know, and I will try to accommodate your team on a different date.
