Orientation schedule

2021/22 Calendar

It was a delight to welcome children back today after the summer holiday. It may have been online, but you have started to build that connection with your class and they’ll very much be looking forward to seeing you in person for the first time over the next couple of weeks.

Here is what was going on in the year groups today.

KG1

Andrea's class were tasked with adding a picture of their first day of school and writing a small piece that described what they were looking forward to this year.

And this is Janine and Andrea preparing for the big day today.

KG2

Ms Marrissa shared with us 2 activities for KG2 students on seesaw today as well as a introduction slide from the team and a picture orientation of what the year group hub looks like.

Year 1

My First Day of School

In Year 1, Tara's students were asked to take a picture and answer questions about themselves.

They were also asked to circle the correct number in each box in a Seesaw activity.

Ms Ana shared her first live call this morning too, exciting stuff!

Year 2

Here, Ms Feb and the students were doing a scavenger hunt on items that are in multiples of two. In this picture they are showing Ms Feb 2 things that are the colour orange.

Year 3

Ms Hanan and the students got to know each other by sharing their favourite hobbies, food, sports etc. It was really amazing for her to see how similar they are to each other.

The children also got to share two true statements and a wish. It was fun to guess what their wishes were.

Finally, students also learnt how to use Google Classroom.

Year 4

Ms May had a great turn up of students in her class. They broke the ice, introduced themselves and then played a name the animal game.

Year 5

Natalyia's class were tasked with answering how they felt about being back at school and what their expectations were for the year ahead.

Year 6

In Year 6 Ivy's class were completing fun Math About Me activities. As you can see, given the activity, the children had a lot to trunk about with one another!

AIM

The AIM department wished to share some of their spirit as well! The team has worked really hard to make their classes cosy and AIM friendly.

Want to add to the primary blog?

It is always great to share what is going on in your classroom and Lewis, Renee and I (Jonny) are delighted to place your pictures and information on the blog. You will be added to a Whatsapp group tomorrow which should make it easier for you to add whatever you would like to.

Please ensure that you accompany your pictures with information as to what is happening so we can really do justice to your items. Also, please be sure to not add anything to the group after 3pm. Our publishing days are Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and if you wish to send something and have it published on the same day then please try to send it by midday.

We look forward to sharing your wonderful activities!

Leadership day

On Saturday EMS held a leadership event that was attended by the school’s Middle Leaders and Admin. Alan led the first session which was entitled, ‘Competence to Lead and Commitment to Serve’. Both aspects were spoken about in depth and their importance was highlighted as key when aiming to be a part of a successful team.

After this segment the school’s department split into Primary and Secondary. In the Primary segment, a personality test was carried out, we spoke about the key factors of a successful team, how to effectively use your leadership competencies to serve your team and the future NEASC visit.

Here are some pictures from the day below.

Online support

Parents were treated to some online support by Ms Renee and Ms Sara today. Renee presented KG1, KG2, YR1 and YR2 parents with an introduction to Seesaw and how to sign in using their child's school Gmail address.

Sara provided support for YR3 parents looking for an introduction to Google Classroom and Gmail.

Great presentations Renee and Sara!

Safeguarding

With regards to Safeguarding, you received a presentation to watch recently and to accompany that a google reflection form was created to give you more understanding as to what the school’s protocols are. Please could you ensure that you have completed the google form on the link here.

Support for the interns

This is just a thank you message to everyone who is supporting the new interns this week by allowing them to accompany you within your lessons. I will do my best to schedule the interns in a variety of classes over the next few weeks to ensure they have a full breadth of understanding of each of the year groups.

Thank you again to everyone involved in this process.

Accreditation - Let's have a laugh! A message from Miss Liz

As we have a NEASC visiting team coming soon we have spent quite a lot of time talking about accreditation. In May and June, we were constantly having discussions but it seems like quite a long time ago now!

Last week LIz surprised some of the leadership team with questions about NEASC, to see if they could remember the answers!!! Have a watch and see how well they did or didn't do with the questions πŸ˜†
