26th March, 2026

Welcome back, everyone.

We know the past few weeks have not been easy, and many of you are returning carrying a mix of emotions. Thank you for showing up, for supporting one another, and for the care you continue to give our students during uncertain times.

As we settle back in, please be mindful of yourselves and each other. Keep things simple, lean on routines, and do what you can. There is no expectation of perfection, only presence, consistency, and care.

We are here to support you in any way needed. Let us take this one day at a time, together.

Assemblies Update

Class assemblies have been cancelled. We will commence with CLA assemblies from 15th April.

Please look out for the spreadsheet shared by the Block Secretaries to submit your CLA awardees. Each class should nominate one boy and one girl. Students can be selected either by merit or by class voting.

Observations Update

All observations for this term are cancelled under the current circumstances. We will review and communicate the next steps once things have settled.

3 Way Conferences

3 Way Conferences can be delivered using slides or in a more traditional format. We understand that current time constraints may not allow for slide preparation, and that not all students may be physically present, so please do what is manageable and appropriate for your context.

The traditional format would be a parent-teacher conference, where you talk through the student’s progress, strengths, and next steps without using slides.

This applies to homeroom staff. Specialist teachers will continue to conduct their conferences without slides as usual.

These can take place either from home or in school, depending on what works best for you.

Techy Tips

🎧 Give Your Docs a Voice with Gemini Audio

The Tool: Gemini Audio Generation in Google Docs. This tool allows you to turn written text into high-quality spoken word or create a concise audio summary of a long document with just two clicks.

The Concept: Instead of just reading, students can listen to instructions, feedback, or complex readings. This supports auditory learners, students with visual impairments, and those who struggle with reading fluency.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open your Google Doc: Ensure your document has content (the tool needs text to "read").

  2. Generate Audio: In the top toolbar, click Tools > Audio > Listen to this tab. Alternatively, look for the "Listen to this tab" icon in the toolbar.

  3. Generate a Summary: If you have a long document, click Listen to document summary to hear a synthesised overview.

  4. Insert an Audio Button: Want students to find the audio easily? Click Insert > Audio buttons > Listen to tab. This places a clickable button directly on the page.

  5. Customise the Experience: Once the player opens, click the three dots (More) to change the playback speed or the voice (options include Narrator, Educator, Coach, Motivator, and more!).

Real-World Classroom Examples:

  • Self-Paced Stations: Place an "Audio Button" next to a complex set of lab instructions. Students who get stuck can listen to the steps being read aloud while they work, keeping their hands free.

  • Revision Support: Encourage students to use the "Listen to this tab" tab to hear their essays read back to them. Hearing their writing aloud is one of the most effective ways to spot awkward phrasing or missing punctuation!
