Tuesday 26th

Mid week is here, not long until Early release Thursday and even closer to a fabulous December break. As always, we are here to support with behavior needs, meetings and everything else that pops up during these busy weeks. Whatsapp, Google Chat, grab us in the hallways. We are here to support. Happy Tuesday.

Back to basics

Group work teaches students skills beyond the task in front of them. Effective group work takes time and patience from teachers and students. Consider how group work is happening in your class, how do you know its effective? What changes do you make if you think it's not going well. Please see the reflective article attached.

Fantastic Assessment for Learning this week

Well done 3-5 for amazing assessment for learning practices happening this week. Before their new Time unit students were engaged in a class math challenge on 99math. Students needed to answer questions related to time, this helped to identify what students already knew and what areas needed to be covered by Ms Jessica. Students thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and is an excellent example of quick and relaxed ways to track students learning.

Thursday Football match

If your class is attending the match please seat students infront of the library bleachers. Please seat students away from the goalposts if possible. Remind students to stay focused and dodge any rouge footballs during the game.

Altercations between students during school hours

We have had some physical altercations between students over the last few days. Please see the follow up steps below. Remember, we want to deal with each physical altercation calmly whilst keeping in line with our behavior guidelines and policy.

This is referring to any L3 and above incidents but please remember admin and clinic staff are here to support all issues that may arise. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • Incidents physical/verbal are reported to admin by the teacher wither homeroom, specialist, break duty teacher, intern, LA and any other member of staff.
  • Incidents can be reported verbally, email, Whatsapp, Google Chat.
  • Admin will inform necessary teachers of incidents brought to them so all parties are aware and next steps are put in place.
  • Communication home will be decided on a case by case basis.
  • If there is an injury the clinic will contact home only to report the injury only after conformation from admin
  • Details of altercations will only be endorsed by the admin/teacher side
If you are unsure please reach out to any member of Admin for guidance.

We are very proud to of the amazing work our Arabic department have done to prepare for the SOAR event next week.
This will unfortunately mean there will be some disruptions to some timetables next Sunday and Monday. We are working on a cover plan to support Homeroom over these days and we will have it shared by end of day tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these days.
